Specifications
The Mirror Division of the Glass Association of North
America was a principal participant in the development of the ASTM
International C 1503-01 – Standard Specification for Silvered Flat Glass
Mirror. The GANA Mirror Division is now actively promoting its use within
the mirror industry.

The ASTM Mirror
Standard was developed to meet a variety of needs including:
- Protect the integrity of the industry
- Provide guidelines to specifiers to
match products to applications
- Establish uniform expectations from
manufacturing through to installation
- Provide a benchmark for the drafting
of contracts, warranties and disclaimers for mirrors
The standard is
something that people at all levels of the industry have wanted for
sometime. Now that it is published it is up to the specifiers, buyers,
fabricators and vendors of mirror to adopt it and use it on a daily basis.
As more companies and individuals use the standard the end result will be
a widespread acceptance of the standard and a greater understanding of
mirror by all involved.
