Shapes of
Mirrors
Shapes
that mirrors come in are almost endless, limited only by the ability to
cut the glass. The shape of a mirror should depend on the dimensions of
the room, the style of the furnishings, and the preferences of the
consumer. Mirrors can also be trimmed to fit snugly next to existing
architectural moldings, such as ogee moldings.
Standard mirror shapes include:
- Architectural (rectangular
mirror with a curved top)
- Circular
- Octagonal
- Oval
- Rectangular
- Square
Mirrors can also be framed to suit the
taste of the consumer. Some standard materials for framing include a
variety of woods, metal, and plastic.
Door mirrors can come in a variety of
thicknesses and styles to adorn the back of a bedroom, bath or closet
door. Choices include the simple pencil edge or the more upscale half-inch
bevel in various sizes. Door mirrors can be framed or unframed depending
on the taste of the consumer. Door mirrors are typically rectangular in
shape.
